THE STORY BEHIND THE DESIGN
21 Para (Special Forces) traces its origins to the 21st Battalion, The Maratha Light Infantry, raised in 1985. Following a conversion process begun in 1994, the battalion was redesignated as a Special Forces unit on 1 February 1996.
In public accounts the unit is associated with jungle, mountain and airborne operations and with counter-insurgency work in India’s North East — the background to the ‘Waghnakh’ (tiger claw) name it is known by.
The design references that publicly documented history. It is an independent tribute and carries no official sanction.
